The route

From the Gulf to Syria by road

Trailers from Jebel Ali cross Saudi Arabia and Jordan to the Jaber border centre and enter Syria at Nasib. Cargo from Saudi Arabia runs through Jordan from the Haditha crossing to Jaber.

From Nasib the international highway runs about 100 km to Damascus. It is the southern end of a corridor of more than 400 km through Damascus, Homs and Aleppo, the main overland link between Syria, Jordan and the Gulf.

  • From Saudi Arabia: Haditha to Jaber
  • Nasib to Damascus: about 100 km

At the crossing

What happens at Nasib

Gulf trucks enter Syria only on transit from one border point to another. Otherwise the cargo is moved at the border onto a Syrian truck for the journey inside Syria; perishable goods are the exception.

Nasib carries heavy freight: Syria's ports and customs authority counted 50,272 trucks from January to the end of May 2026, 18,374 entering Syria and 31,898 leaving it. When gate capacity drops, the queue on the Jordanian side builds within a day or two.

  • Cargo moved to a Syrian truck, except transit and perishables
  • 50,272 trucks, January–May 2026
  • Queues build fast when gates slow
