MIDTRANS was established in Damascus in 1998 and traces its roots to International Transit Company, founded in 1960. We have offices in Damascus, Tartous and Latakia, a head office in Dubai and an office in Jebel Ali, and we serve Aleppo. We are a FIATA member: first joined in 2000, current membership since 2026. On the China lane we have worked with a partner in Guangzhou since 2004 and in Hong Kong since 2006.

From your pre-alert to delivery
Send the pre-alert with the bill of lading, the commercial invoice and the packing list when the vessel sails. We check the documents against Syrian requirements, prepare the import file before arrival, clear the cargo at discharge and deliver it. You receive an update at each step.

Can MIDTRANS act as our destination agent in Syria?
Yes. We receive containers at Latakia and Tartous for freight forwarders in China, clear them through Syrian customs and deliver them to the consignee anywhere in Syria, including Damascus and Aleppo.
Which Syrian ports do you handle for shipments from China?
Latakia and Tartous, where we have our own offices. Latakia is the main container port and has the shorter road to Aleppo; Tartous also takes breakbulk and heavy pieces.
Do you deliver to Aleppo?
Yes. We deliver to consignees in Aleppo and the north, usually from Latakia, and we handle the customs file for the shipment.
Can you collect freight charges from the consignee for us?
Yes. On your instruction we release the bill of lading to the consignee, collect the freight and local charges for your account and settle with you.
What documents do you need from the forwarder?
The pre-alert with the bill of lading, the commercial invoice, the packing list and the certificate of origin legalised for Syria. The bill of lading should name the registered Syrian consignee.
