The ACID has to be requested while the goods are still being stuffed in Damascus or Aleppo, not while the vessel is sailing.
Syria to Egypt corridor
Shipping from Syria to Egypt
We move Syrian commercial and industrial exports out of Latakia and Tartous to Alexandria, Damietta and Port Said, and overland through Nasib and the Aqaba ferry. Our Damascus office raises the export file, and we hold the Egyptian buyer's ACID number before the bill of lading is issued.
Damascus, Aleppo, Homs, Latakia, Tartous, Alexandria, Cairo
Export declaration, exporter card, currency undertaking and the chamber certificate of origin.
We do not cut a bill of lading at Latakia until the Egyptian buyer sends the ACID number from Nafeza.
Out of Latakia or Tartous to an eastern Mediterranean hub, then onto a service for the Egyptian coast.
South through Jordan to Aqaba, across the Red Sea by ferry, then by road to Cairo and the Delta.

Syrian export side
Export declaration, exporter card and the currency undertaking
The export half of this lane is Syrian. An export declaration is lodged with Syrian customs by an exporter holding a commercial register entry and an exporter card, and the exporter gives the undertaking to bring the export proceeds back through the banking system before the file is closed.
The certificate of origin comes from the chamber of commerce or the chamber of industry of the exporter's governorate: Damascus, Aleppo and Homs certify their own members, and a manufacturer shipping its own production takes the certificate from the chamber of industry. Customs examines the goods where they are stuffed, so we position the container at the factory or the packhouse, present the cargo, take the examination and seal on site.
- Exporter card
- Currency undertaking
- Chamber certificate
- Sealed at the loading point
The buyer's ACID
What the Egyptian side needs from a Syrian shipper
Egypt requires the importer's Advance Cargo Information Declaration number, the ACID, to exist before the cargo leaves the port of loading, and on this lane that obligation lands on the Syrian exporter's timetable. We do not cut a bill of lading at Latakia or Tartous until the Cairo or Alexandria buyer has sent the ACID number registered on the Nafeza single window.
The number then goes onto the invoice, the packing list and the bill of lading, and the document set is transmitted electronically into the buyer's Nafeza account before arrival. The practical risk on a Syria-loaded shipment is timing: the ACID has to be requested by the buyer while the goods are still being stuffed in Damascus or Aleppo, not while the vessel is already sailing.
- ACID held before loading
- Number on invoice and bill of lading
- Electronic transmission
- Buyer confirms in Nafeza
Routing
Feeder out of Latakia, relay, and discharge in Egypt
Container traffic from Syria to Egypt moves by relay rather than by direct call. The box leaves Latakia or Tartous on a feeder to an eastern Mediterranean hub and is delivered onto a service for Alexandria, Damietta or Port Said. Port Said East, at the Mediterranean mouth of the Suez Canal, is both a discharge port and a relay point, which makes it the shortest option for boxes already transferring.
Breakbulk and heavy pieces load over the quay at Tartous and discharge at Alexandria. Air freight from Damascus International Airport to Cairo International Airport carries samples, pharmaceutical consignments and urgent industrial spares. Air freight and sea freight are quoted from one enquiry.

- Relay at a Mediterranean hub
- Port Said East
- Breakbulk to Alexandria
Egyptian import side
Discharge, examination and delivery inland
On the Egyptian side the file becomes an import file. Egyptian customs works from the electronic document set held against the ACID, the physical examination is taken at the discharge terminal, and regulated commodities are additionally referred to the General Organization for Export and Import Control, GOEIC, before release.
Food and agricultural consignments from Syria carry the health certificate and the phytosanitary certificate issued at origin, and those documents are checked against the entry before the goods are released. We move the cleared cargo inland to Cairo, the Delta and the industrial zones, and we hold cargo at the gateway when the buyer wants it delivered in parts. Door delivery closes the file at the buyer's premises.

- Terminal examination
- GOEIC referral

Overland
Nasib, Jordan and the Aqaba ferry
The road route runs opposite to the inbound lane and uses the same crossings. Trailers load in Damascus, Aleppo or Homs, leave Syria at the Nasib crossing, run south through Jordan to Aqaba, take the Red Sea ferry to the Egyptian side, and continue by road to Cairo and the Delta.
We use it for consignments that have to arrive as one movement without a feeder connection, and for door delivery to Egyptian buyers who are not sitting at a port. The trailer, the ferry booking and both sets of border formalities sit on one file.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Does a Syrian exporter need the Egyptian buyer's ACID number?
Yes. Egypt requires the importer's Advance Cargo Information Declaration number to exist before the cargo leaves the port of loading. We do not cut a bill of lading at Latakia or Tartous until the Egyptian buyer has sent the ACID number registered on the Nafeza single window.
How does a container move from Latakia to Alexandria?
By relay rather than by direct call. The box leaves Latakia or Tartous on a feeder to an eastern Mediterranean hub and is delivered onto a service for Alexandria, Damietta or Port Said.
Who issues the Syrian certificate of origin for an export to Egypt?
The chamber of commerce or the chamber of industry of the exporter's governorate. Damascus, Aleppo and Homs certify their own members, and a manufacturer shipping its own production takes the certificate from the chamber of industry.
Is there an overland route from Syria to Egypt?
Yes. Trailers leave Syria at the Nasib crossing, run south through Jordan to Aqaba, take the Red Sea ferry to the Egyptian side, and continue by road to Cairo and the Delta.
When should the Egyptian buyer request the ACID?
While the goods are still being stuffed in Damascus or Aleppo, not once the vessel is sailing. The number then goes onto the invoice, the packing list and the bill of lading, and the document set is sent electronically into the buyer's Nafeza account before arrival.
What happens when the cargo arrives in Egypt?
Egyptian customs works from the electronic documents held against the ACID, examines the goods at the discharge terminal and refers regulated commodities to GOEIC before release. The cleared cargo then moves inland to Cairo, the Delta or the industrial zones, or is held at the gateway when the buyer wants delivery in parts.
