Saudi Arabia and Syria share no frontier, so every road consignment crosses Jordan - and the quote names all three borders it will see.
Saudi Arabia to Syria corridor
Saudi Arabia to Syria Shipping
We move Saudi commercial and industrial cargo into Syria the way the map actually allows it - overland through Jordan, out of the Kingdom at Al-Haditha, across Jordan to Amman, and into Syria at the Jaber-Nasib crossing; with a sea alternative from Jeddah across the Red Sea to Aqaba and north to the same crossing. The import half is cleared in Syria by our Damascus office.
Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, Al-Haditha, Amman, Jaber, Nasib, Damascus
A Saudi export at Al-Haditha, a Jordanian transit from Al-Omari and a Syrian import at Nasib - each a separate act at a separate desk.
The Jordanian leg runs under a transit declaration with a bond or escort, so the goods never enter the Jordanian market.
From Jaber into Nasib the corridor continues on our Jordan to Syria lane, coordinated end to end.

MIDTRANS Operations Desk
Team review before pricing or operationsJordan is a transit, not an entry: the goods stay Syrian-bound from Al-Omari onward and carry no Jordanian import duty.
From Jeddah we price both finishes - Aqaba and the land leg, or a Mediterranean feeder to the Syrian coast.
The corridor
Saudi Arabia reaches Syria over another country's border
Saudi Arabia and Syria do not share a frontier. Every road consignment between them crosses a third country, and in practice that country is Jordan. Cargo leaves the Kingdom at Al-Haditha, enters Jordan at Al-Omari opposite it, crosses Jordan to Amman and runs north, and only becomes a Syria-bound crossing again at Jaber. Reading the route this way from the start is what keeps the paperwork honest: there is a Saudi export, a Jordanian transit and a Syrian import, and each one is a separate act at a separate desk. A rate that pretends the box goes straight from Riyadh to Damascus hides two of the three borders it will actually see.
- No shared frontier between the two countries
- Out at Al-Haditha, into Jordan at Al-Omari
- Into Syria at Jaber and Nasib
- A Saudi export, a Jordanian transit, a Syrian import
The road north
Al-Haditha, Amman and the gate at Jaber
The overland path is a single line drawn through three jurisdictions. Al-Haditha is the Saudi post on the Riyadh-Amman road; Al-Omari is the Jordanian side of the same gate. From there the road crosses the Jordanian desert to Amman and runs north to the Jordanian frontier with Syria, where Jaber hands the load across to Nasib. The Jordan-to-Syria half of that line is a corridor in its own right, coordinated end to end - see our Jordan to Syria page for the leg from Jaber into Nasib and the free zone at the crossing. On this page we carry the Saudi origin and the run to the Jordanian border; the two together are one quoted movement.
- Al-Haditha on the Saudi side, Al-Omari on the Jordanian
- Across the Jordanian desert to Amman
- Jaber hands the load across to Nasib
- One quoted movement with the Jordan leg
By sea
Jeddah and the Red Sea, when the box is better off on water
Not every Saudi load wants a long road haul. From Jeddah on the Red Sea the short sea leg to Aqaba, Jordan's own port, lands the cargo already north of the peninsula; from Aqaba the Desert Highway carries it north through Ma'an to Amman and on to Jaber. For some consignments the Mediterranean is the better finish - a feeder onward to Latakia or Tartous puts the box on the Syrian coast without any land border at all. Which of the two - Aqaba and the land leg, or a Mediterranean feeder to the coast - depends on the cargo, the destination inside Syria and the season, and we price both when the origin is Jeddah.
- Jeddah to Aqaba across the Red Sea
- From Aqaba north on the Desert Highway through Ma'an
- A Mediterranean feeder to Latakia or Tartous
- Both finishes priced when the origin is Jeddah
Transit
Goods for Syria never become Jordanian imports
The Jordanian leg is a transit movement, not an entry. The consignment moves under a transit declaration with a bond or a customs escort where the cargo calls for it, so it is never cleared into the Jordanian market and never carries Jordanian import duty. That is the whole point of routing through Jordan cleanly: the box is Syrian-bound from Al-Omari onward, and the Jordanian customs file is opened and closed as a through movement. Get this wrong and the cargo sits; get it right and Jordan is simply the road between two borders.
- A transit declaration, not an entry
- A bond or customs escort where the cargo calls for it
- No Jordanian import duty
- The Jordanian file opened and closed as a through movement
At the border
What Al-Haditha, Jaber and Nasib each ask to see
Three desks, three sets of eyes. Al-Haditha wants the Saudi export cleared and the goods declared out of the Kingdom. Al-Omari and the Jordanian side want the transit lodged and secured for the run north. Nasib, on the Syrian side, is where the import is made: HS classification, invoice and document review, and the duty and clearance handled by our Damascus office. We prepare the Syrian file before the cargo reaches the border, because the crossing is the worst place to discover a classification problem, not the place to start solving one.
- Al-Haditha: the Saudi export cleared
- Al-Omari: the Jordanian transit lodged and secured
- Nasib: classification, documents, duty and clearance
- The Syrian file prepared before the border
Equipment
Through-running or a change of trailer at the crossing
A Saudi or Jordanian tractor does not always run the whole way into Syria. Depending on the plates, the permits and the destination, the load either through-runs on one unit or changes trailer at the crossing, with the box or the swap body moving to a Syrian-registered unit for the final leg. Neither is better in the abstract; what matters is that the decision is made before the truck leaves, not improvised at Jaber. We name it on the quote so the cost and the timing are known in advance.
- Through-running on one unit, or a trailer change
- Decided by plates, permits and destination
- Settled before the truck leaves
- Named on the quote with its cost and timing
Cargo
What actually moves from Saudi Arabia into Syria
Building materials and reconstruction inputs, industrial and manufactured goods, machinery and spare parts, packaged foodstuffs and consumer goods, and project and heavy cargo. As commercial traffic between the two markets rebuilds, the Saudi origin is increasingly a supply line for goods that finish deep inside Syria rather than at the coast - which is exactly what the Jordan land bridge is built to carry.
- Building materials and reconstruction inputs
- Industrial and manufactured goods
- Machinery and spare parts
- Project and heavy cargo
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Is there a direct border between Saudi Arabia and Syria?
No. The two countries do not share a frontier, so every road shipment crosses Jordan - out of the Kingdom at Al-Haditha, into Jordan at Al-Omari, and into Syria at the Jaber-Nasib crossing.
How does cargo actually get from Saudi Arabia to Syria?
Overland through Jordan - Al-Haditha and Al-Omari, then Amman, Jaber and Nasib - or by sea from Jeddah across the Red Sea to Aqaba and north on the Desert Highway through Ma'an to the same crossing; a Mediterranean feeder to Latakia or Tartous is the alternative for coastal destinations.
Will the shipment be charged Jordanian import duty on the way through?
No. The Jordanian leg is handled as a transit movement under a bond or customs escort, so the goods are never entered into the Jordanian market and carry no Jordanian import duty - they stay Syrian-bound from the crossing onward.
Who clears Syrian customs at the border?
The Syrian import is cleared at Nasib by our Damascus office, with HS classification and document review prepared before the cargo reaches the border.
Can you handle the Jordan transit leg as well?
Yes - the run across Jordan is coordinated end to end; see our Jordan to Syria corridor for how the Jaber-Nasib leg and the free zone at the crossing are handled.
What should I send for a Saudi Arabia to Syria quote?
The Saudi origin, whether Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam or another point, the commodity, the Syrian consignee and delivery city, and whether you want the road through Jordan or the sea leg from Jeddah. The quote names Al-Haditha, Al-Omari and Jaber-Nasib, states whether the load through-runs or changes trailer at the crossing, and includes the Syrian clearance.
